Competition Will Start In October and End In December! Who Will Win?
Inside of Class Competition
Overview
Throughout the remainder of the 1st semester, students will be competing in a series of games, called The Math Games. In each math game, students will be testing their knowledge with calculus topics, while competing for points to move to the next round. The goal is to move to The Semi-Finals and eventually become the Champion of The Math Games.
Student Games
Game I: A or B
Using technology, students using their calculus knowledge to select the appropriate option that will answer the question correctly: either A or B.
Game II: True or False
Using technology, students using their calculus knowledge to select the appropriate option that will answer the question correctly: either True or False.
Game III: Relay Race
Students will compete in a groups in a relay race style competition, where in order for fellow students to get the opportunity to answer questions, the student before must get the question correct.
Game IV: With Love, From Tarsia
Competing in pairs, students will be trying their best to complete their Tarsia puzzle the quickest.
Game V: Match the Representations
In a scavenger hunt style game, students will do their best to match the appropriate slope fields representations together.
Game VI: Math Tournament
The entire class will compete in a tournament-style bracket. Two students will answer questions going head-to-head by hitting the buzzer. Whoever is the last student standing is the winner.
Game VII: Trashketball---Shoot Your Shot
An assortment of trash cans and baskets will be around the classroom. Students will compete in this traditional carnival-style game, where students will throw balls into point-assigned trashcans. Students will do their best to answer questions correctly to be able to keep their points.
Game VIII: Who wants to be a math-a-naire?
Who is the best math student? This competition may bring that person to the forefront. Students start off on level 0. In order to move up to the next level, students have to get the level question correct when presented. Student that get the questions correct will move up to the next level. Highest-level student wins!
THE SEMI-FINALS
The last three students in the competition will compete in this jeopardy style game where students will place their solutions and answers on their individual whiteboard.
THE FINALS
The Top 2 Students will compete in a "hit the buzzer" style game.
